Outcome and program structure
The outcome and program structure is set out in the 2011–12 Portfolio Budget Statements (PBS) for the Prime Minister and Cabinet portfolio and, as a result of machinery of government changes, in the 2011–12 Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements (PAES) for Regional Australia, Local Government, Arts and Sport. The outcome, programs and measures of performance used in this annual report are identical to those in the PBS and PAES. The report on performance shows a clear relationship between the targets set out in those statements and the results achieved during the year.
The single outcome was delivered through a single program, as shown in Figure 2.

Outcome 1: An enhanced appreciation and understanding of the political and social heritage of Australia for members of the public, through activities including the conservation and upkeep of, and the provision of access to, Old Parliament House and the development of its collections, exhibitions and educational programs.
Program 1.1: Conserve, preserve, develop and present OPH as the Museum of Australian Democracy.
The objectives of this program are to:
- manage the heritage values of OPH
- develop and manage the agency’s collections
- increase engagement and participation through onsite, online and outreach programs.
